In a fairy tale fantasy brought to life, Kate Middleton has gone from small town girl, to prestigious boarding school, to college coed, to assistant accessories buyer for Jigsaw; a British clothing chain, to the future wife of twenty-eight-year-old Prince William of Wales.
Kate Middleton — the Girl Next Door
Born to a middle class British family, and raised in a small village in Berkshire, England, Kate Middleton, born Catherine Middleton on January 9, 1982, is the classic girl next door. The eldest child of self-made millionaires Michael and Carole Middleton, Kate attended Marlborough, an expensive and prestigious boarding school. In 2001, Kate started college at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, majoring in art history.
A Fashion Icon — Kate Middleton
Kate, a junior buyer with High Street fashion chain Jigsaw, has become a fashion icon. A modern woman with brains, beauty, and an incredible fashion sense, Kate dreams of one day launching her own children’s clothing line. Kate doesn't see herself as a fashion icon, but her unique style landed her on People Magazine's Best Dressed List for 2007 and 2010.
A Royal Wedding — Kate Middleton the Next Princess of Wales
Kate met Prince William of Wales when they were both majoring in art history at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Their relationship began as friends, sharing a four-bedroom apartment near the town center, with two other college students. Love eventually blossomed between the two, and they continued a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship for the next eight years.
After asking permission from Kate’s Father, Prince William proposed to Kate, while the couple was on a safari in Kenya during a 10-day trip to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancey in October 2010. Kate, the beautiful and elegant commoner, accepted Prince William’s marriage proposal, and now wears the beautiful oval sapphire engagement ring that belonged to William’s mother, the late Princess Diana of Wales.
The wedding is expected to be held early in 2011, the exact date, time, and location have yet to be determined. No matter when or where the newest royal wedding is held it will likely be a royal wedding that will rival, if not surpass, the fairy-tale wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, the Late Princess of Wales, nearly 30 years ago.
